Giant TCR with chameleon graphics
Johnny had invested in a new carbon Giant TCR frameset and prior to assembly was looking for it to be painted white with matching integrated bars and seat post. Johnny’s also very tall, but that’s not relevant to this post…
After some discussion, we settled on a pearl white base with chameleon graphics in a green/purple hue to match the bar tape and bar ends that came with the frame. The chameleon flip effect is a powder pigment that changes colour depending on viewpoint, angle of light and looks great against the pearl white base.
Although the design is super-clean there’s an actually few additional processes required compared to standard paint and graphics. First a base of white is applied, followed by the pearl effect, then the chameleon graphics. The chameleon pigment powder is mixed with a clear base coat carrier then applied over a black base to create the effect. A clear coat is then applied over everything for a super-shiny finish.
With the base colour being a pearl white, extra care is required as there’s no easy way to fix any blemishes that tend to be more obvious compared to other colours. Combined with tan wall tyres, the end result has a classic look (despite being a modern carbon frame) and hopefully will provide many miles of happy and dirt free riding!
