Background and experience

Based in Scotland near Edinburgh, Big Bada-Boom is an independent paint shop managed and operated by Russell Stout with years of experience in wet coat paint application for production and custom frames, delivering a professional finish that matches the quality of high-end factory bikes.

Professional paint designs are produced in collaboration with the customer to create a design that complements the type of frame, components, and finishing kit, ensuring your bike stands out at the local café stop or blends seamlessly into the landscape on the trails, wherever you are in the UK.

From a full bicycle frame respray to a unique custom paint bicycle frame project, every job is approached with the same dedication, detail and lasting quality.

Bring your ideas to life

Supply of frame

Frames should be supplied clean and free of grease/oil with bottom bracket and headset removed. However, both can be removed and refitted for a small cost if required. This ensures every bicycle frame respray or bike frame painting service begins with a properly prepared surface, giving your finished frame the durability and quality it deserves.

For any hidden damage revealed during prep (cracks/excessive corrosion, threaded mounts etc) you will be notified and provided with a recommended course-of-action. For damage that stops any further progress (e.g. repair not viable), your deposit will be retained to cover costs incurred up to the point of discovery.

Colours & design

Standard colours are shown in the colour chart with additional colours mixed as required. The paint process is based on an automotive paint system so most automotive colours can be reproduced based on make and model as reference.
